Emma Wright is a lawyer focussed on the tech and telco sectors for 25 years. Having sold (with her other partners) the renowned City technology boutique law firm Kemp Little to Deloitte, (at Deloitte she was the Partner leading Government and Public Sector) her and a team moved to leading London based law firm Harbottle & Lewis where she set up the Technology, Data and Digital team. A team setting a positive example in its diversity being majority female and minority ethnic. Emma leads on advising on the complex contracting arrangements with significant supply chains relating to large digital transformation projects across both the public and private sectors especially where critical national infrastructure is involved or where digital infrastructure and cyber is a critical component. Emma also led the legal services provision to the 72 cyber start up companies at the London Office for Rapid Cybersecurity Advancement which was a UK Government funded programme.
Outside of her role as a lawyer, Emma co-founded the Interparliamentary Forum on Emerging Technologies with Darren Jones MP (currently shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury) in 2018, a not for profit focussed on building a global network of legislators sharing best practice on the regulation of emerging technologies, particularly AI. The network spans the globe and contains legislators in over 30 countries and has signed an MOU with UNESCO to focus on implementation of the Recommendation on AI and Ethics. Emma has spoken at Ministerial Forums internationally, including most recently in Santiago Chile. She won the Cog-X Individual Global Impact Award earlier this year for her role as Director at IFET.
Emma has been named in the Computer Weekly Top 20 Most Influential Women in Tech for the last two years and has Business Woman of the Year and Transformational Leader of the Year at the Forward Ladies Awards in London last month. She also sits as a Non Executive Director at a start up. She has been delivering keynotes internationally since 2019 and has worked in both the UK and Washington DC.
