When Dean was born he was diagnosed as having the most severe form of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB, Cotton Wool Babies, Butterfly Children www.debra.org.au ), and given a life expectancy no greater then five. When he was 10 he was told he would never walk again. People said he would never be able to get a job or “fit into society”.

“I have taught myself to turn every negative into a positive. To not just survive, But thrive under the extreme hardships and adversity faced every single day. I never wavered from his own dreams to be a productive member of the community working and contributing in a meaningful way.”

In 2003 he began sharing his story as a motivational speaker. To date he has shared his story to millions of people, racking up millions of YouTube views and thousands of online and in- person interactions. Travelling to four countries inspiring everyone he spends time with. “My greatest passion is to inspire and connect with as many people as possible.”

Key Stats

Dean began working at 1071am in his hometown of Kingaroy. Quickly establishing himself as a much loved and valued team member of the 1071am on air personalities.

For 15yrs Dean was an International Brand Ambassador for Toyota Australia. As well as the Marketing and Business Development Officer for Ken Mills Toyota.

Dean was the Face and voice for Disability Employment in Australia.

In 2018 Dean was inducted into the Australian Hall of Fame for Disability Employment.

Dean co-managed and established a successful online sports store.

Today Dean is currently an Ambassador for the Brisbane Broncos Football Club, An Ambassador for Debra Australia which supports everyone living with “the worst disease you’ve never heard of,” Epidermolysis Bullosa

If all that is not enough in early 2004 Dean took up the hobby and challenge to become a Powerlifter in his spare time. This has seen Dean become one of the strongest powerlifters in his weight class in the world.

Amazing for someone who’s skin is still medically regarded as being as fragile as tissue paper and rips apart at the slightest touch.

Dean’s past clients include, The Australian Federal Government, Brisbane Broncos, Qantas, Toyota, NRL, Australian Federal Police, New Zealand Warriors.

Dean says “To me speaking is all about connecting with people in a positive way to leave people in a better place. It does not matter if the audience is four or 3000 people. My goal is always the same - To connect and inspire.”
