The 2006 V8 Supercar Champion and the younger of the Kelly brothers, Rick will team with brother Todd for the third straight season in 2011 for Jack Daniel's Racing. After beginning in karts and following in the wheel tracks of his older brother in Formula Ford, Kelly clinched the Australian Drivers Championship in 2001 and made his V8 Supercar debut in the same year for Kmart Racing.
Stepping into the Holden Young Lions program, Kelly was V8 Rookie of the Year in 2002 and took over Todd's seat at Kmart Racing for the following season.
His first round win came at Bathurst in 2003 in partnership with Greg Murphy and Kelly's star continued to rise. He took his first career pole at Sandown in 2004 and partnered Garth Tander at the team later known as the HSV Dealer Team, a year later after again winning Bathurst with Murphy.
In 2006 he was in 0 championship form and his consistency was unbeatable. Despite only winning one individual race all season, Kelly took the title in controversial circumstances after a last race clash with Craig Lowndes.
He finished fourth in the title chase in 2007 and with the departure of Garth Tander to HRT, effectively took the mantle of team leader at the HSV Dealer Team in 2008. The season started strongly but the team faded in the middle of the season, only able to win one race “ the final one at Oran Park“ all season.
In 2009 he and brother Todd took the plunge to establish their own team after breaking ties with Walkinshaw Racing. A double podium result at the Phillip Island 300 showed that the team's development was on the correct path.
In 2010 the two-time Bathurst victor again showed why he's one of the rare consistent performers in the V8 Supercars Championship with another top 10 finish in the title chase.
