Tea Uglow is the co-founder of Dark Swan, a creative and strategic advisory agency that provides global creative and strategic advisory services focused on future-trends in culture and creativity, AI, Web3, digital/physical, deep-time and human-oriented design.
Tea is a Peabody-winning digital and creative visionary, and has become a global icon for queer, trans, disabled, and neurodiverse creative people.
Tea left Google after 17 years as a founder member of Google's Creative Lab. Tea pioneered visionary award-winning projects in Generative AI; Blockchain; Physical Digital, and HTML5, AR, and human-centered design. and contributed to the launch campaigns for: Chrome, Android, YouTube, Streetview and Photos (amongst others).
She is on the board of ACMI [AU], advises the Flickr Foundation, the Immersive Arts Advisory Board, and the Australian Government Arts Council's Digital Strategy. She is part of the Science Gallery Networks' Leonardo Group and previously sat on the board of the Biennale of Sydney (2015—2021), the ABC ARTS Reference Panel (2015—2017), the European Internet Week Council and the D&AD Executive Council.
She was a Jury President at Cannes (2023) and Spikes (2021). She has written a book on the history of queer oratory: Great LGBTQ+ Speeches. She was part of the team that proposed and secured the transgender pride emoji in 2020. Tea believes that activism is a civic responsibility for senior members of a community who are more socially and economically secure.
